What is RF Microneedling?

Aesthetic podiatrist Dr. Suzanne Levine uses a special approach that produces beautiful results for our patients in New York, NY with a treatment known as radiofrequency (RF) microneedling. This treatment has been around for a number of years and is popular in the cosmetic industry for its ability to tighten the skin. It utilizes thermal energy in order to promote the production of collagen deep within the skin to create a firmer, smoother surface. At Millennium Podiatry, we often incorporate VirtueRF — the world's first RF microneedling platform — into our skin treatments in order to generate healthier skin, a much smoother texture, and a luminous complexion.

Am I a Candidate for RF Microneedling?

If you're 40 years old or older and are beginning to notice discoloration, smile lines, age spots, and other skin irregularities, RF microneedling with VirtueRF could be the ideal treatment for you. This treatment is a wonderful choice if you want to:

  • Firm your skin, creating a more refreshed appearance
  • Enhance skin texture, pigment, and/or tone
  • Address skin imperfections, such as discoloration and blood vessels
  • Reduce the look of sun damage and age spots
  • Repair acne scars and other forms of discoloration
  • Rejuvenate skin for a younger, more glowing look

How is RF Microneedling Performed?

Microneedling with VirtueRF uses a tool that's glided carefully over the skin to puncture and make micro-injuries that "interrupt" the tissues and stimulate the production of new collagen. The applicator emits radiofrequency heat, works by delivering short bursts of RF energy via an array of 36 sterile, golden-coated microneedles, which allow the treatment to provide almost immediate results and an almost entirely painless process. The power is transmitted through these needles, which simultaneously punctures your skin and returns the electrodes on the skin. The RF energy warms at levels that provide cumulative and continuing results. New skin begins to grow as the skin starts to heal, leaving the surface feeling and looking brighter, smoother, and refreshed.

What REsults Can I Expect from RF Microneedling?

Immediately following the procedure, microneedling with VirtueRF calls for the use of the Microcurrent Dual Face Mask system. First, a wet enriching mask infused with antioxidants, vitamins, and moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties will be applied to the skin. Next, the enriching mask will be activated. This uses patented Tissue X™ technology in order to ensure the ingredients are delivered deep into the skin. The use of these masks is meant to even further enhance the results and decrease the side effects of the procedure.

Cold water can be used to cleanse the skin on the first day after the treatment. After this, a simple, gentle cleanser should be used. It is also important to avoid applying excessive pressure when you wash your face. We also advise patients to reduce their exposure to direct sunlight for at least three days and refrain from exercise for about 1 – 3 days.

Patients should anticipate tiny, pinpoint scabs to become pronounced 24 – 72 hours post-procedure. These will naturally shed when the inherent micro-injury has healed. Results typically become noticeable as your skin heals over a month after your session. Optimal results usually call for 3 – 4 treatments spaced about 3 – 4 weeks apart.
